At St. Anselm we are committed to preparing candidates for Confirmation in a way that is relatable, engaging, and in harmony with the busy schedule of teenage life. Over the years we have adjusted our program to meet the needs of families by offering 2 distinct tracks and alternate dates for most mandatory meetings.
Confirmation isn't a ceremonial rite of passage or graduation from religious education, it is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that roots us in our identity as sons and daughter of God and empowers us for the mission of Christian life. Our hope is that we can help you to prepare for that outpouring in a meaningful way. We want to help candidates to understand the Sacrament, ask meaningful and tough questions about their Catholic Faith, and most importantly grow in their relationship with God in the family of the Church. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
In the Archdiocese of New Orleans, the Sacrament of Confirmation is bestowed upon Juniors in high school after completing the necessary catechetical and class requirements as administered by their church parish. Most often, a bishop presides of the sacrament in individual church parishes. The Confirmation program of St. Anselm begins in early May and continues through October. Eligible candidates receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in October.
Archdiocesan policy requires each candidate to attend all Confirmation calendar events/dates to fulfill eligibility.
